The Best Christmas Movies to watch this year

Okay. It is really festive season now, with less than 10 days to go until the big day. In my opinion, one of the most festive things you can do is grab a hot chocolate (or the hot beverage) and a blanket and snuggle down to watch a Christmas movie. Personally, I only want to watch a Christmas movie if it is really going to put me in the festive mood; so here is my list of best festive movies.

  1. Elf

Well this is a slightly obvious one but it is one of my absolute favourites. Buddy’s festive cheer is so infectious and who can resist New York at Christmas time. I can’t remember the last time I had a Christmas where I didn’t watch Elf at least once. I am also always horrified when I talk to someone who doesn’t like it! Do any of you not like it?!

2. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Christmas Vacation and Elf are without a doubt, my top 2 Christmas films. Although I think Christmas Vacation is less well-known, it is such a Christmassy film and the main character, Clark, is so sweet and just wants to give his family a really amazing Christmas – which makes for a very festive vibe for the whole movie.

3. Nativity 1, 2 and 3

These movies are so perfect for Christmas time because it just reminds you of Christmas when you are a child. The stories are so cute and all the kids excitement about Christmas and their performances are so sweet and make you feel even more Christmassy.

4. Arthur Christmas

Arthur Christmas is a relatively new movie which came out in 2011. The story line is actually really creative and interesting and definitely makes you feel more festive! It is my annual ‘Christmas wrapping’ movie which I watch while wrap presents.

5. Home Alone 2

I actually prefer Home alone 2 to the original. I think the setting in New York just makes it even more festive and beautiful. I still love the first one but if I had to choose between the 2 – this one would win!

6. Polar Express

I think The Polar Express is one of the most stunningly festive Christmas music. It’s so magical and definitely gives off Christmas Eve vibes!

So there you go! Those are my picks for the best Christmas movies – let me know if you want anymore recommendations!

Merry Christmas!

Lots of love,

Autumn leaves and a Spring Breeze xoxo
